Home Farmer Magazine June 2018 Back Issue

English
2 Reviews   •  English   •   Family & Home (Gardening)
Welcome to the June issue of Home Farmer. It's undeniably a good month for gardeners and livestock keepers as the weather is usually better - certainly warmer - and you can combine leisure with work and enjoy your plot as well as the forthcoming harvest. We've got lots to interest home farmers this month, from a gardeners' 'to do' checklist for July, August and September, a DIY project to build a self-watering container garden, and tips on preparing and cooking shallots. We also cover goats, poultry, pigs, bees and cattle in our livestock section, together with lots of lambing in our smallholder diary from Dot Tyne. On the food front we feature different pestos and some delicious recipes for perennial veg - a great way of reducing your planting early in the year! We also feature both parsley and Clary sage wines, Wild Cabbage in our regular foraging feature, tips and advice about branding, logos, innovation and compliance in our hand-made cosmetics business series, a new whisky from Yorkshire, and some interesting snippets taken from the 'Relaxed Farming' website for smallholders. It should be enough to inspire you when you're out on your plot, and more than enough to entertain and inform you when you're stuck inside as it rains. We hope you enjoy it.
