As regular visitors to Salcombe for some years, James and Anna Eames were keen to build a home in the area. So, when a dated bungalow in an enviable yet somewhat challenging position, looking out to sea, came up for sale, they were quick to snap it up, despite there being no planning permission in place for a replacement dwelling.
“We had to start from scratch with the planning process,” explains architect Ian Phillips of van Ellen + Sheryn Architects, the practice James and Anna selected to design their new home.
