The Marwari Diaries

The national horse of India, named after the Marwari region, is easily recognized by its curly ear tips. Originally bred for battle, the horses were known for their loyalty and endurance. Once near extinction during British rule in India, the majestic Marwari breed is now a national treasure.

On the Unicorn Trails Fort and Palace Ride to the Pushkar Camel Fair, intrepid riders can experience the Marwari’s native country through the breed’s unique ears. Long canters in the sand, sunset rides and luxurious glamping are all part of the adventure, but the power and personality of the Marwari is what touched me most—as was the care taken to provide them with the utmost of comfort.
