The August issue of Horse&Rider has arrived, and it’s got all the info you need to make the most of the long summer days

Taking the lead in our riding section is Piggy March talking all things accuracy. Whether you want to perfect your dressage moves or leave your poles up showjumping, accuracy is the key success. Have you ever thought of adding cavaletti to your horse’s repertoire? Eventer Sasha Hargreaves is on hand to inspire you to give it a try with one of her favourite exercises. If it’s your riding mindset that you struggle with, then never fear we’ve got advice from the very best – Charlotte Dujardin. She shares her tips for staying cool, calm and collected in the saddle. And, if that wasn’t enough Tina Cook gives her advice on making the most of your hacking and we give you some tips on serpentine jumping.

Would you consider turning your passion for horses into a career? We spoke to three H&R readers who’ve done just that. If you want that feel-good factor and maybe a drop of inspiration, you won’t want to miss this feature. Also in our management section this month, we’ve got expert advice on the pros and cons of putting boots on your horse and a guide to quarter marks so you can stand out on the show circuit this summer. If you’re in need of some advice on your horse’s health, then we’ve got you covered with help from our team of vets. Get the lowdown on colic and learn how to check your horse’s vital signs so you can catch any changes to his health and help prevent illness.

Plus, we’ve got some amazing competitions for you to enter. You won’t want to miss this month’s prize – a mega bundle from Derby House worth more than £1,000! It includes rugs, breeches, boots, saddlepads and so much more. If that doesn’t take your fancy, head to the giveaways page where we’ve got tons of other prizes up for grabs.

All this and so much more in the August issue of Horse&Rider – available now!

UK's best-selling equestrian monthly Reviewed 13 August 2020

Best horse mag ever

Just bought some back issues and a subscription. Used to buy it from the feed barn. Really like the way I can access the old issues whenever I like, and it is so quick to open. And this is the best all round read for me. Reviewed 16 July 2013
