There was once a time when AI was just the title of a hyper-pretentious film by Steven Spielberg, or a lazy trope employed by sci-fi scriptwriters to come up with a catch-all concept to explain why the future was going to be a dystopian nightmare. But in the last year-or-so, AI is starting to become something we’re all really going to have to sit down and think about.
Now, I don’t really know the first thing about AI in any real sense. I sort-of get how it works, least-ways, but as to how you design it, programme it, and how it adapts - not a clue! I understand the vague concept that AI software programmes can adapt, can seem to be able to deploy almost cognitive learning capabilities, and simulate some degree of reasoning and logic. AI can understand and make choices on a level that seems mystical and magical. In fact, I’m going to have to stop myself, because I’m casting about, rather. Like I said, I don’t have a clue about AI.
