I ALWAYS feel it is better to have a destination rather than just take of on a wee bike ride. This summer I have been visiting sites that have relevance to Robert the Bruce, using as my guide David Ross’s book ‘On the trail of Robert the Bruce’. David Ross has held a lifelong love of Scotland and all things Scottish, the other passion we share is motorcycles and he used his bike to travel to such places as the Birthplace of Bruce, the battlefields he fought on and his final resting place in Dunfermline Abbey. If David had been writing such books when I was a schoolboy I would have paid much more attention to Scottish history, he really sucks you in, no long list of dates to learn in his book, this is boys own stuff. My tricycle Association magazine arrived in the post and inside I found an application form for the Mildenhall Rally 2014, cycle camper pitch £19.00hold me back.
