Polls apart

Scot Goes Pop

For many years, my blog Scot Goes Pop has been semi-dedicated to analysing opinion polls about Scottish politics. But no matter how many hours and days I may have spent poring over datasets, there was always bound to be a little something missing from my analysis until I had directly experienced the view from the other side of the fence, ie. until I’d actually commissioned a poll myself. That finally happened at the end of January, when I commissioned a Panelbase poll on the subject of independence with the help of readers’ contributions to a crowdfunder. It ended up attracting headlines in the London media - and even in one or two media outlets beyond these shores - thanks to an unusually high Yes vote of 52%.
