By late April the layout was beginning to take shape and included a birch trunk sitting circle in the foreground
We made ourselves at home on Simon’s new chipped wood and log-edged sitting area and texted, ‘Wish you were here’!
I have kept a diary for more than 28 years and true to the saying, there have been many occasions when it has kept me, like when we pulled the first succulent, swollen taproots of the ‘Boltardy’ beetroot my wife, Sally, had sowed on our new plot last year. Looking back, our job list for March was pretty daunting because there were still 101 jobs to do, including tackling remnants of couch, bindweed and brambles, while moving existing plants from the old allotment and sowing this year’s crops. How did we do all that, you think to yourself?
