When it gets to August, Rekha’s little bit of ‘the good life’ is ready for some more harvesting

Having an allotment that is productive had been a dream of mine, but when I first worked the plot, it seemed overwhelming, though exciting too.

That was eight years ago!

New gardeners should not be put off by photographs of abundant harvests, especially if they only get a few crops compared with fellow (established) gardeners. It should motivate them instead. Remember, they too were once in those beginners’ boots – as they say, we all have to start somewhere and are not born with a spade in our hands.
