CAN I APPLY MANURE AND GARDEN COMPOST TO SOIL IN SPRING?
Manure is traditionally applied in autumn and winter when digging over the plot or initially, in the case of no dig, a 10-15cm (4-6in) layer of organic matter such as manure, green waste or compost is placed on the surface and left for the worms to incorporate. Then nodig plots are annually topped up with 5-8cm (2-4in) of organic matter, such as garden compost or manure applied in autumn again.
