Easter Sunday was a special day for the Border Kirk congregation at Longtown, near Carlisle. This was the first time, since the closure of their church building in December, they celebrated Easter in the Methodist Church where they now worship, as a result of a building sharing arrangement.
It was all the more special in that Helen Carlyle of Kirkpatrick Fleming and a faithful member of the Border Kirk was ordained an elder. Her mother Margaret Carlyle only recently received her long service certificate and proudly attended Helen’s ordination.
