Moscow’s metro is at once a history lesson and an art museum (not to mention a rather efficient system of transportation). The design of its stations and the direction of its expansion tell a story about Moscow during the 20th and 21st centuries. Even more intriguing are the artwork and architectural design that characterise the stations, many of which are constructed out of granite and marble and adorned with mosaics, frescoes and bas-reliefs.
