MUSIC ON VINYL
The first release in Music On Vinyl’s Morricone Themes series, which builds into a library of five double discs (forthcoming titles include Italian horror Giallo and Lounge), Western contains all the key pieces you’d expect plus a whole load more. Yes, the key themes from For A Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad And The Ugly are here but also tunes such as Lonesome Billy from Bullets Don’t Argue, which you may recognise from its inclusion in Anchorman 2. Morricone’s movie music is at its best when it merges with the sound design, like A Fistful Of Dollars with its church bell, whip crack, and whistle, or the hypnotic guitar and savage flute playing on Death Rides A Horse. Close your eyes and you’re in Monument Valley.
