Art Brut

WHAM! BANG! POW! LET’S ROCK OUT!

ALCOPOP! RECORDS

Eddie Argos has taken a break from painting album covers to release the fifth Art Brut album (a mere seven years after the last one). Wham! Bang! Pow! Let’s Rock Out! is a charming meander through the glorious minds of Argos and co. Look out for the many musical references peppered throughout – from Blood On The Tracks to Ticket To Ride. During album highlight and new single Hospital! Argos muses: “They tried to make me go to rehab and I said/ That’s probably a very good idea,” penned when he was hospitalised with a near-fatal bout of peritonitis. Despite some serious subject matter – death and a breakup – here we have an upbeat (thank you guitar riffs and brass instruments) and triumphant record which wears its 90s influences on its sleeve. None more so than in Good Morning Berlin, where a Blur-esque sound and an unmistakable Englishness shine through in Argos’s ode to his adopted city.
