The first in a staggered series of vinyl reissues covering their too-brief lifespan, it’s sad to say The Three E.P.’s contains almost everything the casual dabbler needs to hear to realise why The Beta Band inspired such devotion among fans, critics and fellow musicians. This remastered version seems to level out some of the eccentricities of the ambitious production, but you could listen to it through a tin can and still be beguiled by its musical evolution.
