KING GIZZARD&THE LIZARD WIZARD
King Gizzard & he Lizard Wizard frontman and songwriter Stu Mackenzie has a way with understatement.
“I’m not very good at relaxing,” he tells Long Live Vinyl. Since forming in Melbourne in 2010, the band – who fuse an ever-shiting mix of garage rock, psychedelia, prog and experimentation – have released an eyewatering 14 albums and two EPs. Famously, they released ive in 2017 alone, and in 2019 they are already on their second of the year. he first, Fishing For Fishies, was an LP that took in blues rock, boogie, whimsical folk-pop, glam stomp and even a touch of electronic pop. It was an eclectic record, even for a band with eclecticism at their very core.
