1 Screen quality
How good is the on-screen image? Are the colours vibrant or washed out? What about pixel resolution and response time? These things are taken into consideration when we assess screen quality.
2 Connectivity options
How do you connect the monitor to your Mac? Is there a built-in hub so you can connect other peripherals to the monitor?
3 Build versatility
Is the monitor heightadjustable? Can it swivel on the stand, or tilt back and forth? Is there a VESA wall-mount option?
4 Value for money
We look at the different features and design elements that the screen offers and compare this against the price.

Acer CB282K
£279 FROM acer.com
1 The 28-inch CB282K 1 is great value for a 4K display (price taken from the Currys website). And it’s quality belies its cost.
While it’s not the best on test, you get plenty for your money. When using gradient ramps to assess the display colours from dark to light, it performed admirably. The darkest reds and blues were a little indistinct, but overall it was great. Likewise, the backlighting wasn’t quite perfect – there were shady areas in the corners and at the foot of the screen – but not enough to put us off.
Text reproduction wasn’t Retina quality, but it remained sharp and readable even at very low point sizes.
