LAST NIGHT’S DINNER
Luke Humphries
Think darts is more about pints than protein? Not so, says the world number one
For many years, the sport of darts has conjured images of pubs, pints and a raucous Ally Pally. But today, the world’s best are playing for huge sums of money, which has necessitated a more athlete-like approach.
That’s certainly the experience of Luke Humphries, current world number one and winner of the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship, who credits his rise to the top of the sport with a four stone weight loss achieved during Covid.
To be clear, we’re not talking superdosing creatine or precision hydration, and takeaways are still on the menu, but as he explains, darts is beginning to enter its wellness era and Humphries is leading the way – one chicken caesar salad at a time.
