Drawing to a close this time are a couple of much loved articles: 'Patriotism' by Alan Crossfield ends as the locomotive takes to the track for the first time and, not surprisingly, it runs as well as it looks.
Little Idris, the 16mm garden railway locomotive is also virtually complete although this will be revisited in the near future when Martin Ranson makes a tender for it.
Chris Gunn erects the cylinder casting that has been occupying his workshop time for quite a while as the Garrett 4CD starts to take shape, mechanically at least.
Anyone who has ever sat on a sunny beach in Australia, on noticing the colourful beads adorning the fashionable young ladies going by, will probably have come up with the same thoughts as Peter King: what a great idea for a pattern for a globe valve!
Back home in Warrington Duncan Webster describes his method of producing axleboxes. He makes it sound so simple!
Meanwhile, best wishes for a peaceful and relaxing Christmas from all at Model Engineer.
