WHAT IS TOFU?
It originated in China, then later spread to Japan and to the whole world afterwards. In these and other Asian countries (Thailand, Korea and even Vietnam) it became an important food and ingredient for both savory and sweet dishes. It reached the West sometime during the second half of the 20th century and has become widespread there as well, especially in vegan and vegetarian cuisines.
