YAWAR NAZIR
Worshippers in Indian-controlled Kashmir respond as a cleric displays a whisker believed to be from the beard of the Prophet Muhammad on December 1 at the Hazratbal shrine. The devotees were among the hundreds of thousands of Kashmiri who visit the shrine each year on the Eid-e-Milad, or Muhammad’s birth anniversary, which is December 2 this year. The holy relic is customarily displayed on that day.
