Thousands flocked to Oban for the 35th Highlands and Islands Music and Dance Festival over the bank holiday weekend. The turnout thrilled organisers and festival chairman Breege Smyth said it was their busiest event on record. Among those taking part in the action song event in the town’s Corran Halls were four young ‘knights’ from Taynuilt Primary School. Helping the youngsters get the most out of their day and smile for The Oban Times’ photographer was the Scottish Book Trust’s Bookbug. For full report and more photographs see pages 14, 15 and 16.
