OBAN car parking charges have raised £345,794 for Argyll and Bute Council between July and September this year – £55,000 over its target.
The figure was released to the Oban, Lorn and the Isles Area Committee in the Corran Halls on Friday. The report stated: ‘The popularity of RET (road equivalent tariff) which has seen the reduction in ferry fares, has increased ferry trafic and vehicles visiting the town.
‘This may have had a knock-on effect on car parking income.’
