TWO young local volunteers were greatly surprised when they ended up at the receiving end at the Community Resource Network Scotland annual awards dinner in Edinburgh’s opulent Balmoral Hotel.
Sean Logan and Connor Glover, volunteers with the local recycling agency ReJIG, were firmly under the impression that their dinner invitation was a mere token of thanks. To their utter amazement they were called up on stage where they were presented with their Saltire awards by the capital’s Lord Provost Donald Wilson in front of 300 people.
Both boys received the Ascent Award which marks 500 hours of volunteering and Connor also scooped the additional Summit Award which recognises more than 1,000 hours of volunteering.
