UNITED Auctions held its annual June sale of all classes of cattle and sheep last weekend at Dalmally Auction Mart.
A catalogued entry of 168 store and breeding cattle and 1,016 sheep of all classes sold on Saturday June 4 to a packed ringside of buyers. All classes of stock sold readily, and sellers headed home having had a very satisfactory day’s trading.
Bullocks sold to a top price per head of £1,060 for British Blue cross from Fearnoch, while Limousin cross bullocks from Garraron sold to 288.1p/ kilo. Heifers from Brenchoille sold to £950 per head, as Garraron again led the prices per kilo in this section, with Limousin crosses at 256.5. Barguillean led the prices in the breeding cattle section when their Simmental cross heifer with bull calf at foot sold to £1,830. Dunans led the prices for ewes with lambs at foot when their consignment realised £186. Saulmore sold their consignment of ewes with lamb sold to £178 and this was closely followed by £177 for Clachan, Tiree’s consignment.
