Left to right: Vic, Don, Susy, Helen, Neil and Dave
Inspired by articles I have read in Outdoor Swimmer, I decided to celebrate my 60th birthday this year ticking-off some Lake District swims.
So, I spent a fabulous week in mid- September doing just that with my intrepid band of swim buddies: Helen, Dave, Don, my daughter Vic and Neil (open-water newbie). The weather was very kind to us and we managed to swim in Crummock Water (twice), Buttermere, Bassenthwaite Lake, Loweswater (my personal favourite) and Derwent Water, plus a very brief and chilly dip in Bowscale Tarn. We also managed to fit in some cycling, walking, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and a visit to Lazonby Lido on its final open day of the season.
