INTERVIEW RIN HAMBURGH
My eldest son was born in 2008 and, when he was 18 months old, I went back to my job as a teaching assistant. Soon after that, my partner and I split up. As a single parent, my career was important to provide my son with the security he deserved. Over the next few years, I worked 60 to 70 hours a week, completing my teacher training and working my way up to head of department.
During that time, I met my husband, got married and fell pregnant with my second son, who was born in 2015. After maternity leave, I tried to return to work but the job was stressful and demanding and I found myself burned out and suffering with unmanageable anxiety and work-related stress. With the support of my husband, I left my job and began my recovery process.
