“I like creating arrangements that make you stop and look. Pausing is important”
“I surround myself with things that make me smile, like these red shoes”
Amanda Dicker admits that when she first moved into her house, she focused on making it ‘perfect’. ‘When I look back, I realise I made it so hard – hard surfaces; hard lines. I decorated the kitchen and put up shelves filled with badges of my success: the KitchenAid mixer and the gleaming co ee machine – but I couldn’t relax. If I was home alone in the afternoon, I didn’t know what to do with myself. I’d designed the perfect setting for a life that was making me unhappy.’
