A local-interest bookstore for Hamilton, and a fresh rebrand for the International Festival of Authors

Bryan Prince to become King W. Books

King W. Books, a new bookstore focused on art, design, and local-interest titles, will open in Hamilton, Ontario, in September. The new shop will take over the space formerly occupied by Bryan Prince Bookseller, which closed in March after 29 years. Co-owners Dave Kuruc and Terésa Devries will split the 1,560-squarefoot location with their art shop, Mixed Media. The individual storefronts will share a connecting interior doorway.

“It comes with a lot of great energy,” Kuruc says of the space, describing the floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and rolling ladders that lent Bryan Prince its historic atmosphere. “But we have a very different idea of what we want to do in a bookstore so it’s going to be its own thing.”
