SPECIAL LONDON'S FUTURE
Transport for London has submitted plans to take over ‘stopping’ trains on several routes around the capital, including several major termini. Long term, TfL wants to run suburban services, particularly those in south London, to a similar standard to London Underground in terms of service frequency. new trains are also on the wish list, with better braking and acceleration to meet the required frequencies. These would be fitted with wider doors. TfL wants to introduce its concept of ‘metroisation’ with more consistent stopping patterns, clearer routes and new interchanges. Improvements to junctions, track and signalling would be needed to improve the frequencies.
