Footbridge over SW Main line demolished
THE failure of the foundations of a footbridge over the South Western Main Line between Woking and Brookwood over the weekend of December 2/3 has led to its demolition.
The same section of line has been subject to a recent landslip.
Prior to the discovery of the footbridge foundation issue, Network Rail said remote condition monitoring detected movement in a 100 metre slope next to the St John’s Hill Road overbridge, which is close to the footbridge. The footbridge provides pedestrian access to Woking Golf Club and is the next bridge heading west.
