BARGIN SHOOTING
Shooting can be an expensive game. Even if you inherit your grandfather’s gun and your grandmother’s Range Rover, unless you own some land, or have friends who do, it can be difficult to avoid ending up substantially out of pocket to get a few days’ sport. Of course, there are some tricks to getting free shooting. Shoot enough foxes for farmers and eventually one will let you shoot a few deer; do enough beating and at the end of the season you can expect an invite to a keeper’s day or two. But what if you don’t have a lot of time or money to spare? Can good shooting be had at a price an average earner can afford? Having said that, there are plenty of opportunities for some great-value
