Snowbirds & RV Travelers  |  Nov 2020
Canadian destinations are more popular than ever, providing a great way to further enjoy the country’s rich culture, history and pristine, untouched nature. From the BC Coast to the Provincial Parks of Ontario, there is no shortage of trip planning for the coming winter months – and yes, we did say the winter months.
Although the reality is there are certain limitations given park closures and harsh winter weather in some parts of the country, there are still a number of opportunities to travel safely and comfortably in Quebec, the Maritime Provinces, and even throughout Northern Ontario before the snow flies. If the latter is on your radar in the coming weeks, while making your way to the more balmy temps of the BC Interior or coast (or trying the exclusive camping options in Alberta), our feature on How to Choose the Best Canadian Snowbird Destination will be of special interest.
We continue with our focus on winter destinations (see SRT Volume 17 Number 6) by offering a comprehensive guide on how to select the right RV park when staying north of the border this winter. From adhering to your budget and determining the best locations to assessing value versus cost, our guide provides all of the criteria to make the right choice to enjoy a cooler camping season.
If you choose to stay at home, however, there are options as well. Ontario RVers have a handful of Provincial Parks to choose from as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, and even snowmobiling on local trails are all popular pastimes. Or, even check with your local ski hill about available RV parking, and use your trailer or motorhome (weather permitting, of course) as a base camp before and after you hit the slopes. There are more opportunities to enjoy your RV than you realize.
