I think it would be fair to say that the committee of the Five Counties Vintage Machinery Organisation Ltd, organisers of the 1000 Engine Rally, were hoping/praying for some decent
weather this year to compensate from last year’s rain sodden weekend, and the disastrous effect
it had on their finances. Well, from reports received and postings on various Internet engine forums, the event was a great success. A report on the show, which can be found in this issue, has been provided by Barry Job, a regular contributor to Stationary Engine magazine. There have been countless rumours flying about with regards to the 1000 Engine Rally in 2014 (the event’s 30th Anniversary year) and beyond. However, following communication with F C V M O Ltd Rally Organiser Kevin Staton, I am pleased to be able to state that the 1000 Engine Rally 2014 is most definitely on, the date is 21st & 22nd June 2014, with the auction taking place on Friday 20th at 4pm.
To enable the event to continue a number of cost-cutting measures will need to be set in place, but
with the exception of not issuing commemorative plaques, a sacrifice that the committee feels worth making to keep the rally alive. Very few of the other measures being instigated will have any effect on those exhibiting at the show. Kevin Staton has sent the following “I would like to thank anyone who gave a donation at the rally or has sent one since. I would like to ask for the support of the stationary engine movement in the UK to help keep this premier event going beyond 2014, any
sponsorship/donations can be sent to my home address 47 Coronation Road, Congleton, Cheshire CW12 3HA, made payable to F C V M O LTD. NO CASH please.” Win an Amanco Competition
The announcement of the winner of the “Win an Amanco Competition” has been held over until the next issue.
