I WAS ONCE TOLD a tale about two warring giants: one who lived in Ireland, the other his English enemy. Their feud of unrecalled origins eventually descended into a rock-flinging match across the water. When one giant’s throw fell short, however, a rock crashed into the Irish Sea. Thus, the Isle of Man came to be. Giant geology aside, it’s said that from its high point, Snaefell, you can see seven kingdoms: Man, Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, Manannán (the sea) and Heaven.
