Becoming Me

All photos by

My ethnicity is Puerto Rican and African-American decent. I am from a very religious background. We were Christian. I was raped by my father at the age of 12. He was a minister. I never spoke a word of it till I was about 18. All of my immediate family members do not accept me for who I am. I was thrown out at the age of 16, and I’ve been learning on my own since then. It took me a while to find who I really am because I was afraid of what people would say or think. As you see I blossomed into this loving, caring, beautiful person. So far I’ve walked this path alone, with friends coming and going. As far as transitioning; any support that was given was from me, and to this day I still have a very long road ahead of me. I never became who I really was to blend in or be the same as anyone else. I love my uniqueness. I love to stand out now and just be different and have the finer things in life.
