Bad Girl or Bad Girl?

With less than 24 hours to go I was lightheaded and thought fainting was an imminent possibility. You see, I was selected to be the makeover model for a training session at the Southern Comfort Transgender Conference (SCTC) in Ft. Lauderdale, FL September 2018.

With experience in similar assignments, this should have been routine - fun even! All I had to do was show up in male mode and go through a narrated makeover on stage in front of a class. I was to be transformed into a presentable woman by an experienced Makeup Artist (MUA).

The problem was; this MUA was new to me, and everything I learned about her increased my anxiety. She seemed to be a “Bad Girl”– the opposite of who I am, and the image I seek to present. How was this going to work?

To start with, what kind of lady goes by the name “Amy Vodkahaus?”What? Why? Is this supposed to be a joke? How could I trust this person?

Seeking common ground between us before the class became an urgent necessity.
