Bolton Abbey Railway Station on the Embsay and Bolton Steam Railway
I was very lucky to be able to spend a nice long weekend with my boyfriend Barry, in Leeds at the beginning of April. The occasion was to see the Iconic steam locomotive ‘Flying Scotsman’ at the Keighley and Worth Valley, Railway. I took the opportunity to travel to Leeds by train for the first time as Mandy. So on the Friday, I was up at 4.30 in the morning to make sure I looked my best and was ready to leave on the 7am train.
I had purchased tickets for the Footplate Experience on the Saturday, and to travel on the Monday, leaving Sunday free. Both Barry and I had a great time on the footplate and I had my photo taken with fireman Charlie. It was very informative, and we got to walk through the Tender, behind the engine, as so many locomotive crews had done in the heydey of steam. Sunday was a nice lazy day, and in the afternoon we went to the Embsay and Bolton railway for a look round. It was a lovely day. On the Monday it was back to the Flying Scotsman for a ride in the afternoon.
