CATCH YOUR FIRST TROUT
Almost every trout fishery has a resident casting instructor. You’ll benefit
from even an hour’s tuition and it won’t break the bank. The key is not to strive for perfection straight away, you need only learn to cast a minimum of fifteen yards to catch a fish. Of course, being able to cast further will increase your chances of success but fifteen yards is normally accepted as the distance required to find some hungry trout. To demonstrate how effective a qualified
instructor can be, we invited absolute beginner Sam Fullerton to have a very
first try at fly casting with Exe Valley fishery’s manager and resident instructor Nick Hart.
