Rowan Atkinson’s genius for comedy has made the star of Not the Nine O’Clock News, Blackadder and Mr Bean not only one of the nation’s top entertainers, but famous all over the world. This week, however, we’ll see the sixty one year-old playing it straight as legendary French detective Jules Maigret in a new feature-length ITV crime drama that marks his welcome return to British TV. In Maigret Sets a Trap, based on the 1955 book by prolific Belgian author Georges Simenon, Rowan’s in unfamiliar territory as his dedicated sleuth investigates a series of murders in Paris.
