Time flies and I can’t believe I’m onto my third issue already. Of course this means six months have passed since my first, and I’m really looking forward to the end of winter’s cold, wet darkness. It seems to have dragged on forever this year! I’ve personally got away lightly in terms of the weather though, and I’d like to spare a thought for those who’ve suffered from flooding over recent months, hobbyists or not. I know of at least one shop that suffered catastrophic flooding and my heart goes out to those affected.

On a more positive note, this being our first issue of 2016, I can’t help but wonder what exciting developments we will see this year as things ‘hot up’! We have Interzoo in just a few months and, on the subject of new products, we are already getting our hands on some of the samples we reported on in our last issue from the Aqua tradeshow. It speaks volumes about a company or product when they have the confidence
to submit it for independent review.

As ever I’m massively grateful to our core of expert contributors, but I would like to put out the feelers for new talent, and you may have noticed this on our Facebook and forum sites. If, like me, you’ve found yourself spending too much time on social media, consider using that time to share your knowledge, skills and creativity in print! Of course writing for a magazine also has monetary benefits which you can plough back into your hobby! Whether it’s a tank feature, a personal opinion, a DIY project or even a brand new reef-keeping methodology, just drop us an email if you are interested.

So here’s hoping that 2016 proves to be the best year so far for you, for me and for good old UltraMarine Magazine … and a belated but sincere Happy New Year to all of our readers!
