Kusi the alpaca arrived at FRIEND animal rescue in Kent two years ago after being discovered living in a cramped dog cage. Rescue manager, Mark Eaton said: “His conditions were truly appalling. Fortunately someone alerted us to his plight then managed to gain access to the yard where he was awaiting slaughter, rescue Kusi and bring him here.
“When he arrived he was unable to stand up straight. We are not sure exactly how long he had been subjected to life in the dog cage but the inability to fully stretch his neck or legs had taken its toll. He was also very frightened and extremely thin. He was a sad, depressed boy completely contrasting to an alpaca’s usual friendly and curious personality.”
