Christianity and veganism share a couple of similarities; they encounter closed-minded judgement by others, and believe that love, kindness and compassion are fundamental to their belief system. However, the difference is that many Christians have yet to understand the connection between these caring emotions and what they eat.
Furthermore, the stereotypical notion that it is our God-given right to use animals for food is at the forefront of a lot of the judgement and scorn directed towards the Christian community. These feelings of anger and frustration at the traditional approach some Christians have towards life is something I’ve felt conflicted with myself. Questions of whether my ethical beliefs and my religious beliefs should be linked, or if they are mutually exclusive, have arisen a lot during my journey as a vegan Christian, but I’d also like to explain why my relationship with God supports my vegan lifestyle.
