For as long as I have been working in the media and in animal rights, one name has always trail blazed across both, with unforgettable impact — Brigitte Bardot.
Born and raised in Paris, a natural singer and dancer, Brigitte Bardot launched her acting career in 1952. She received international recognition for her role in And God Created Woman, was heralded as the most liberated woman of post war France by Simone de Beauvoir, and received a BAFTA nomination for her 1965 film, Viva Maria! With 47 films and over 60 recorded songs behind her, Brigitte Bardot retired from the entertainment industry in 1973.
