Bridgestone, through Annemiek Bonenkamp, sheds light on the much-discussed tire issue during the European Sarno race.

In Sarno, the European class for direct drive classes started with lots of noise, chatter. On the track as well as in the paddock, a bitter controversy broke out over tires. The subject of the dispute was the vertiginous difference in performance between sets of tires according to a number of drivers and technicians and the mysterious difference between the codes of the tire sets supplied.

This fueled a sort of Tiresgate that, however, as often happens in karting, had no real follow-up. No one, in fact, has requested any kind of official investigation from the Commission, limiting themselves, once the event is over, to abandoning the “guilty” tires and returning to their headquarters to ready for the next race. What happens on the track, in sum, ends on Sunday night. The story, however, has not gone unnoticed to us at Vroom. After consulting with drivers, we decided to offer our readers a different viewpoint, namely from those who build the tires and stand accused, figuratively speaking: Bridgestone. The Japanese tire maker, through Annemiek Bonenkamp, a wellknown figure in the karting paddocks, offered a broad reflection on the affair, dispelling once and for all the notorious doubts about the codes.
