Discoverying Sarno

PHOTO: DOMENICO PAOLICELLI

In the second half of October (to be precise from 22 to 26) the Sarno track will be the scene of one of the globe’s most magnificent karting events: the Rotax Grand Finals. Here then, for the benefit of those drivers who will go to race there for the first time, but also for the spectators who want to “understand” the race, we have decided to present the track with all its driving characteristics.

Bianca leaves her mark in Junior
After two months the engines finally came back to roar in the Akoc with the second race held in Macau. The event was attended not only by local drivers but also from Japan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China and Singapore. On this occasion a female driver returns to the top, after too long a wait: Bianca Bustamante excels in Macau. She dominates in Junior, but loses out in the final by a whisker after a long duel with Xie Wing Lam Gerrard. And the Senior final was also a thriller.
Tough as a diamond
We interviewed Bianca Bustamante, the girl who distinguished herself in the Asian Karting Open Championship and, above all, in the second event in Macau on June 30th. She confided to us how she managed to reach such a high level and run with the boys.

PREVIEW
THE DATA OF SARNO
The data acquisition has allowed us to have some more information on how the kart (and the driver) behave along a lap of the Sarno track. Interesting to note that with the Rotax Max DD2 geared 36/61 (with this engine one replaces the torque of gears of the primary) you get to change approximately 12 times, maintaining the first gear for about 607 meters and the second for about 882 meters.
GARAGE
Negative acquisitions
What does an engine abandoning us show, in telemetry? How can a driver know from the instrument on the steering wheel that something is going wrong? Let’s see what happened in a case of engine seizure.
Do they really test?
Boasting non-existent cavalry has become something of a race in itself in the karting world. How does an engine test bench actually function? How to discover when there are indeed HPs and when not? Here is a brief compendium with which to better understand what they tell us and how to read a power curve by observing what really counts…

STORIES
So small, so badass
Marco Ambiveri again makes us participants with this compelling and emotional story of his feeling with the 100 engine, exalting it still today as the most engaging engine any kart driver has had the luck to try. An unforgettable sensation.
