Lucy Walford, 31, a solicitor, and Jack White, 33, an operations manager, had their civil ceremony at Oakham Castle and held their reception at The Fox and Hounds, both in Rutland.

Budget: £25,000-£30,000

Floral budget: £1,600

We’re both from a small town in Lincolnshire and met just after school in 1999, although we didn’t start dating until 2003. Our engagement was a long time coming! Jack proposed to me in my favourite restaurant, Skylon, in London.

After visiting several large venues, we realised they didn’t really suit us, as we wanted a more relaxed day in an English garden pub with lots of fairy lights, bunting and flowers. We had viewed a very grand venue in the village of Exton and the owner suggested the Fox and Hounds for lunch. It was strange, we had seen quite a few large venues and nothing felt right, but the moment we walked through the door of the Fox and Hounds, we knew this pretty and homely pub was for us.
