Are you sure you're doing your gym exercises correctly? Experts warn that, as the popularity of keeping fit soars, so does the number of people performing moves with poor technique. ‘Go into a gym and both beginners and experienced gymgoers will be doing exercises incorrectly,’ says Fiona Crossley, owner of F45 Kingston. ‘Lifting weight that's too heavy is often the problem.’ A lack of coaching can also be to blame, one study published in the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine reports that injury from power lifting and calisthenics is far more likely when people don’t get coached on their form by a qualified trainer.
