The runner Kelly Murray

Day job Business Director, Media Agency

The result Running a marathon in 3hrs 50mins – knocking 25 minutes off her PB

After exhausting herself training for the Milton Keynes Marathon last May and feeling the effects come race day, Kelly Murray decided that she would take a totally different approach to her next marathon. A mum of two, Kelly, 36, from Beaconsfield, had been running three to four times a week while training for Milton Keynes; she’d prioritised quantity over quality sessions and lost all enjoyment along the way. All of this changed when she decided to sign up to the Valencia Marathon, later in the year. Not only did she reduce her weekly training runs by half but she even enjoyed a few glasses of wine the night before the race – taking a more relaxed approach, overall, that saw her knocking 25 minutes off the PB she’d set at Milton Keynes.
