Writer-editor Hy Bender (The Sandman Companion and various Dummies books) and book developer Will Paoletto are reading for ‘playful and fun’ new anthology, Ghosts on Drugs. Stories should run between 2-30 pages in standard manuscript format and must feature ‘some version of at least one ghost who’s on some version of at least one drug’. Examples could range from a ghostwriter hooked on cough medicine to an ancient god craving to be worshipped again. Stories combining comedy with another genre such as SF, horror, adventure or thriller, etc, are especially welcome. Submissions must be fresh, entertaining, appeal to a wide audience and provide an emotionally satisfying ending.
The deadline is 1 May, but this may be extended. Payment is 15¢ per word for the first 2,500 words, 6¢ per word thereafter. You are welcome to send an enquiry with your story idea first, to check a similar story hasn’t already been purchased for the anthology. Or you may simply send your story as a doc attachment. In either case send to Hy Bender by email: hy@hyreviews.com
